More about yoga for mums

Yoga for mums classYoga for mums and babies is accepting of the distractions that young children bring. Oli set up the class for his partner and antenatal group in 2005, and it has grown since. He happily teaches with a baby under each arm.

Poses emphasise what new mothers need to regain strength after pregnancy.

  • Unless you’re a long-time yoga devotee, wait a few months after childbirth before joining. Your body could do with the healing time.

  • Experienced and new yogis are welcome. Oli designs classes to fit the group and offers options of varying difficulty. As a Feldenkrais practitioner, he makes sure postures are safe.

  • Yoga mats and blankets are provided. Please wear clothing that you can easily move in.

  • The hall is safe for children on the move, with power-point protectors etc.

  • A box of toys is available, but feel free to bring your child’s own toys.

  • There is usually space for buggies, bouncers, and car seats.

  • You can feed or settle your child at any time (or pretend to do so to avoid trickier poses). Please bring along any snacks they need.

Parents often gather at a local cafe after class. Some combine yoga with a
mums 'n' bubs movie at the Empire Cinema.
